OUR DIGITAL STORY OF OUR SPECIAL DAY...

RIBBON DAY MASS and May Crowning 2008

Good morning! Friendship has been defined as a strong and habitual inclination in persons to promote the goodness and happiness of one another. Today our school celebrates our friendship and devotion to Our Blessed Mother whose love for us is a constant source of happiness and whose life in an ever-present example of what it means to promote the goodness and happiness of another.

This is also "Ribbon Day" for the class of 2007. It is a day on which we celebrate the friendships made during our years at St. Mary's. We reflect upon the virtues of justice, obedience, integrity, and honor seen in the life of Mary, which will guide us throughout our lives.

May the ribbons we receive, which symbolize our "tie" to Our Blessed Mother, St. Mary School, our friends and teachers, always be a reminder of all we have learned here.

Recessional:

May Crowning 2008

We are here today to honor Mary, a great and special woman. We rejoice with her because she said YES to God and became the mother of Jesus. She is our mother, too, because Jesus gave her to us as He hung dying on the cross. Now we honor Mary by remembering the events in her life and honoring her son.

God sent Gabriel to ask Mary if she would be the mother of His son. Mary was puzzled at first by such a great and honorable request. But the angel assured her that the power of the Holy Spirit would be with her and that her son would be holy and would be called Jesus. The angel mentioned to Mary that her cousin, Elizabeth, was going to have a baby soon. Mary told the angel she would be happy to do what God asked of her. Then the angel left.

Mary quickly packed up a few of her things and went to visit her cousin in the next town. Elizabeth was overjoyed and very excited when Mary arrived, and she gave Mary a big hug.

"Oh, Mary," she said, "You are the most Blessed among all women, and your baby will be blessed , too, because you believed that the Lord would keep His promise in you."
