We are here today to honor Mary, a great and special woman. We rejoice with her because she said YES to God and became the mother of Jesus. She is our mother, too, because Jesus gave her to us as He hung dying on the cross. Now we honor Mary by remembering the events in her life and honoring her son. |

God sent Gabriel to ask Mary if she would be the mother of His son. Mary was puzzled at first by such a great and honorable request. But the angel assured her that the power of the Holy Spirit would be with her and that her son would be holy and would be called Jesus. The angel mentioned to Mary that her cousin, Elizabeth, was going to have a baby soon. Mary told the angel she would be happy to do what God asked of her. Then the angel left. |
