Dear Parents,

Welcome to Second Grade, Room 16.

Wow! We have a lot going on in Second Grade the next few months.

RELIGION - We just had our Prayer Service for our Reconciliation Books. As we continue on in our Sacramental Preparation, please continue to work with your children on the Reconciliation book every week. First Reconciliation will be celebrated Saturday, February 4th!

READING - We have started our new reading groups and they are working well!

We are continuing our book study where each month we read different genres. November is fiction and in class we are reading Robin Hood. Again, here is the book report list for the year!

October- Mystery books
November- Fiction
December- Seasonal Books
January- Biography
February- Science Fiction

MATH - We will be starting our next chapter on 2-digit Subtraction. Keep working on your basic facts!

HANDWRITING - We just completed our unit on printing and we will be starting CURSIVE after the Christmas holidays.

LANGUAGE- We have been learning about noun, pronouns, plurals, possessives, and verbs. We started a unit on poetry which included an alliteration. This December we will complete an acrostic poem.

SOCIAL STUDIES and SCIENCE: We have finished learning about OUR EARTH in Social Studies and all about the FIRST THANKSGIVING! We had a lot of fun with MAGNETS in Science and doing centers!

We also have welcomed a new aide to second grade! Ms. Miki will be here three days a week through January- A.M. only!
