Mrs. Taylor's 2nd Grade

Room 16

We are very busy in Second Grade this semester. We are receiving two sacraments in addition to all our other activities.

Religion
We are making the sacrament of Reconciliation on Saturday, February 6. In preparation for our First Communion, we will study the Mass. Then, we will receive the sacrament in April.

Reading
We love to read novels. We just finished Sarah, Plain and Tall and biographies. We can’t wait to start science fiction and read 20000 Leagues Under the Sea. We have lots of novels to read before the end of the year.
Shakespeare should be fun!!

Math
What is better than Second Grade Math? Nothing!!! We love doing regrouping, time, money and graphs. We get an introduction to multiplication and division before the end of the year. And we get weekly time tests for facts.

Science
We are studying changes in the Earth—dinosaurs, earth movements and the water cycle. We will finish with simple machines.

Language Arts
We are learning the parts of speech and how to use them in sentences. Adjectives and adverbs make our sentences so much more colorful. We will end our year writing our own novels!

Handwriting
Cursive writing is our newest challenge! We love relearning our alphabet in cursive and we can’t wait until we can write a whole spelling test in cursive.

As you can see, we are busy in Second Grade. We love all the activities and look forward to the next challenge.
