Catholic School Week Biography
Students are to read a biography about a person who has made a
contribution to society. The biography may not include sports figures
or entertainers. We are asking the students to look beyond the fame
and consider a person who has made a lasting impact on society.
Please choose someone you admire, and has made the world a better
place.
Students should prepare a written report giving the details
of the person's life. The report should have a cover with a picture
of the person in the biography along with person's name , and
student's name. Students should also prepare a two minute talk to be
presented to classmate and guests. Students may come dressed as the
person in their report, this need not be elaborate, and is
optional.
The report is given in first person as if they are the
character they have chosen. Please help your child to decide on a
person they want to read and write about. No two people may have the
same person, so it is on a first come basis. The book must be
approved by the teacher.
Reports should include:
Basic background information leading up to their fame.
What contribution did the person make to society.
Why is this person admired.
What is the person remembered for.
The written report does not need to be written in first
person but their oral report does. The oral report should be written
on index cards to keep the two minute speech organized.
The oral report should begin for example... Good afternoon,
My name is George Washington and I am known as the Father of Our
Country. I was born.....
Report and speech are due
Sincerely,
Mrs. Hughes
