Students entering third grade should have addition and subtraction memorized. This is necessary to be successful in the strategy of regrouping three digit numbers. They will be required to memorize multiplication facts 0-12. The use of multiplication begins in December. Students will learn the relationship between facts (fact families). This helps them to understand that if they have memorized their addition and multiplication they also know subtraction and division. Students will also explore fractions, time, money, measurement; both standard and metric, geometry;plane figures and dimensional figures, area, and perimeter.

Students will engage in lessons that model the process, manipulative that help gain understanding, computer application of strategies, self demonstration of concepts, group demonstration of concepts, games that hold their interest to gain further comprehension, chapter tests, practice and review of skills.

I recommend five minutes of daily practice ( at home ) of all math facts for students to insure a success in math.
