Powerful Spiritual Bouquet

Students learned about spiritual bouquets in religion class. We discussed the power of prayer and how we ask God to help us or the ones we love to deal with difficult times in our lives.

One of the students was very worried about his father who had been dealing with a medical problem. We made a spiritual bouquet in the form of a prayer chain. The students told what they would do every day, such as three" Our Father's " twice a day, or a "hail Mary" every hour.

Religion Lesson Comes To Life

The Third Grade class has been studying in Religion class how people in the parish serve God by using their talents. What a perfect example we have with our art teacher Mrs. Johnson working countless hours to adorn the walk up to the church.

Mrs. Johnson worked with each class in the school, making ornaments for the class tree, often coming in on her day off. As you can see the students had a joyful time decorating the tree.

Thank you Mrs. Johnson for showing us how we praise God when we use our talents.

"We Believe" by Sadlier is currently used.

Children gather in prayer at the beginning of every chapter, They gather to pray and focus on their life as they begin each day's lesson. They pray, sing, and explore the ways the faith speaks to their lives.

Each chapter presents the truth of the Catholic faith found in the Sacred Scripture and Tradition, and in accordance with the Magisterium of the Church. The book is Christocentric, centering on the person of Jesus Christ. Trinitarian, inviting relationship with God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Ecclesial, supporting faith that is lived in the domestic church and the universal church. The book also embraces the mission of evangelization and proclaims the gospel of Jesus through catechetical ministry.

 Family Life:

Third grade is the first year children are introduced to sex education. The book is very fundamental and explains God's role in the wonder of life. The main focus is the family and how the family is the most important gift in our lives. The book is made up of ten chapters which speaks in general of how families are important , it also tells of plants and animals as gifts from God. Most of this is a review of what we covered in the first four chapters of science. Chapter eight is the only chapter that gives a few basic facts about reproduction. This chapter is read at home with a parent so that you may discuss what you feel is appropriate for your child's maturity. The final two chapters deal with feelings and our place in community. I encourage all parents to request the book in March for your review so that you may anticipate any questions your child may have. We will use the book in May.
