-You need to be able to identify a picture of : ramp. pulley,
lever, wheel and axle, screw, wedge.
-Simple Machine- is a machine with few or no moving parts,
-Work is when a force changes the motion of an object.
Compound Machine are two or more simple machines put
together.
-Energy is the ability to do work.
An example of work is when a ball player uses a bat to hit a
ball.
-A rock on a hill has energy because it can fall down the
hill.
-Scissors are an example of two simple machines put together. The
edge of the blade is a wedge and the handle acts as a lever.
-A machine makes work easier because it lets you change the
direction of the force.
-A pulley is like a lever because they both help you pull
something up.
-A bike rider will choose a winding road that is longer in
distance because it will be easier to pedal. A road that goes
straight up will be much harder to pedal.
-Fish swimming in water part the water in front of them. The fish
swimming are like a wedge.
-A lever is made up of an arm on a fulcrum. A teeter-totter is an
example of a lever.
-When kicking a soccer ball your leg moves fast as you are
kicking, but stops moving fast as you hit the ball. That is because
the force goes into the ball, and starts the ball moving.
-A stairs that has fewer steps but is steep will be more
difficult to climb while carrying a heavy item than climbing stairs
that have more steps but are not as steep.
-A bike will coast as it travels down hill because it has energy
going down the hill. The same as a rock falling down a mountain.
-When trying to move a rock in a garden you would choose a longer
board to move the rock because you would not need to use as much
force.
