-When measuring the distance of an object, you will find a large
object that is light in weight will have more wind resistance than a
small heavy object. A baseball will go farther than a beach ball
because the beach ball has more wind resistance. Friction from the
wind keeps the ball from going as far as the baseball.
-When comparing objects such as a football, golf ball, tennis,
ball, and bowling ball; you can determine which weighs the most by
the amount of effort it takes to pick up each item. Our muscle power
pulls against gravity when we lift something. The gravity is the same
at a given place. Since the bowling ball is harder to pick up then it
must weigh more.
-If you are in outer space and you throw a ball it will travel
farther than on Earth because there is less gravity and no air. The
ball will keep going until it is slowed down by friction from air or
pulled down by gravity.
-You want to test to see if your new roller blades are faster
than the old roller blades. How can you do this? You would test the
roller blades on the same sidewalk when there was no wind. You would
use the same muscle power both times. You would skate from one point
to the other. You would time each race to see which was faster.
-Friction is the force that slows objects down.
-To measure speed, you need to measure time and distance.
-It would be harder to skate on a gravel road because the gravel
increases friction.
-Things fall to Earth because they are pulled by Earth's
gravity.
-A cheetah can run at a greater speed than a person can.
-A pound is a unit of measurement in the English system.
- The length between two places is called a distance.
-Scientists measure weight in newtons.
-The pull of gravity on an object is that objects weight.
-When an object changes position, it is in motion.
-An object that rubs against another object creates
friction.
-The location of an object is its position.
-If you add force to an open door, it moves.
