In Math this year, the children are using the McGraw - Hill series. MATH BOOK ONLINE

Go to www.mhln.com The first step is to click the words "log on" in the lower right part of the page.

On the next screen, type in member name MATHBOOK and password BOOK99M in the boxes. Then click " log on" again.

The next screen should show you the cover of the Grade 3 textbook. Click onto the title of the book to enter into it, You do not need to worry about class lists and so forth.

In chapter one, the children study place value and money. In chapter 2, the children add whole numbers with 3 and 4 digits with regrouping. In chapter3, the children practice subtraction using 3 or 4 digit numbers with regrouping. In chapter4, the children practice telling time to the hour , half hour, quarter hour, figure out elasped time, and learn how to use graphs in problem solving. In chapter 5, the children will practice multiplication up to the tables of 5. In chapter 6, the children will learn the multiplication tables up to the tables of 12. In chapter 7 ,the children will learn the division facts through 5. In chapter 8, the children will learn division facts up of 10,. In chapter 9, children will multiply multidiget numbers by 1-diget numbers. and estimate products. In Chapter 10, children will divide multidigit numbers by 1 digit numbers and estimate quotients.In Chapter 11, the children will be learning to build conceptual understanding of customary and metric measurement. They will practice estimation of measurement and apply measurement to real-world skills.

In chapter 12, the children will be introduced to the identification of congruent, similar, or symmetrical figures. They will build conceptual understanding, of area , perimeter, and volume. they will learn to classify 2 and 3 dimensional figulres . They will learn to apply geometry to the real world situtions. In chapter 13, the children will learn about fractions, mixed numbers, and equivalent fractions. They will be introduced to the addition and subtraction of fractions. In Chapter 14, the children will be introduced to the addition of decimals, and subtraction of decimals. They will learn the relationship between fractions and decimals. They will apply decimals to real -life situations.
