Marble Jar

Two jars are kept in our classroom. One jar has 100 marbles in it, and the other is empty. When I notice the class working quietly, when I feel they have worked extra hard, or when they exhibit excellent behavior, marbles are taken from the “full” jar and placed into the “empty” jar. When the “empty” jar is filled with the 100 marbles, the class decides on a way to celebrate (watch a movie, have a special treat, etc.)

This is a motivational technique that helps children stay on task, as well as learn to work as a team to reach a certain goal.

 Star of the Week

Each week, one student is chosen to be our Star of the Week. They will be responsible for decorating the Star of the Week bulletin board with any decoration they would like. (photos, drawings, etc.) The Star of the Week is chosen if he/she had no missing work for the week, did not get their clothespin moved all week, got their Friday Folder signed and didn't forget to write their name on their work.

*Each day the student is allowed to bring something special that represents them.
