Reading

This year, we are using a new reading series entitled Reading Street. We will cover units in the book, but we will also be reading novels. We do reading centers almost every week. These centers give students the chance to work in small groups on specific comprehension skills.

During December, the 5th graders will be reading A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. We will be focusing on the plot and characters of this famous Christmas story. As we read, we will be listening to the story on CD so that we can understand it easily. We will do related projects and group work as we read the book.
