Seventh Grade Reading

Seventh Graders will delve into texts in depth using Active Reading Strategies. They will practice questioning, making meaningful connections, evaluating information for importance, and analyzing the author’s craft.

In class we will read stories from the Prentice Hall Literature text, as well as novels, which will include favorites such as Seedfolk, The Red Kayak, My Brother Sam is Dead, I Columbus, and The Witch of Blackbird Pond. Student groups will also have the opportunity to select novels from the classroom collection to explore in a Literature Circle format.

Reading grades will include three main components:
Tests and quizzes 50% Homework 25% Projects and In-Class Work 25%
