Curriculum:
This year the students will be doing a variety of activities related to literature. Some of the things that they will be doing are:
- reading various novels, short stories, myths, folk tales, essays, poems and plays
- examining parts of a story-plot, character, setting and theme
- taking notes about the reading they do
- completing writing assignments related to their reading
- discussing their reading assignments
- debating issues related to the reading
- defining vocabulary used in the readings
- reading books independently
The students will read the following novels this year:
- The Outsiders
- Across Five Aprils
- Shane
- Call ofthe Wild
- The Diary of Anne Frank
- To Kill a Mockingbird
- The Giver
