BEHAVIOR STANDARDS

Homework: Students are expected to complete all homework assignments. Written homework will usually be assigned each day during the week. In addition to homework assignments, students are expected to bring home their notebook each night and review what was completed in class. In some cases the students will also have long term projects that will need to be worked on.

Late work: If a student fails to turn in an assignment or project on the day that it is due, the student will reeive a 0% for the assignment.

Grading System

Religion	40%- Homework, and Participation 40%-Tests 20%- Service Hours
Science	50%-Lab Reports, Projects, and Chapter Notes 50%-Chapter Tests, 2nd Quarter-(Science Fair Grades)
Literature	50%-Check Tests, Short Stories, Selection lessons, and Vocabulary Quizzes 50%-Novel Quizzes and Tests
Novels	1st Quarter- The Outsiders, Across Five Aprils 2nd Quarter-Shane 3rd Quarter-Call Of The Wild 4th Quarter-To Kill A Mockingbird & Diary of Anne Frank
Spelling	30%- Units Completed Weekly and Definitions 70%-Tests

Quiz/Test Days:  On days that students take a quiz or test they will need to bring a free reading book to class. If they do not have a free reading book they may borrow one of mine at the beginning of the class period. When the students are finished with the test they are expected to read silently. If a student talks during a quiz or test it will be considered cheating and the student will receive a zero on the quiz or test. the student will also receive a Disciplinary Incident Report.

OPTIONAL PROJECTS:

For many chapters an optional project will be offered. If a student completes the project, the additional grade will be computed into his/her average. While it is not direct extra credit it is a way for students to improve their averages. The projects will have specific directions and a due date. Late projects will not be collected.

HOMEWORK CORNER:

When a student is absent from school or misses a class for any reason, he/she will need to check the Homework Corner notebook. It will explain if work was collected, what was missed in class, and what assignment, if any, needs to be completed. It is the responsibility of the student to check the Homework Corner notebook, complete all assignments, and turn in any assignments. For each absent day the student has one day to complete the work. If a student fails to check the Homework Notebook and fails to complete the assignments given the student will receive a 0 for the assignment.

HIGH SCHOOL SHADOW DAYS

If a student shadows at a high school, please contact me before the shadow day. This will ensure that the absence is recorded as an excused absence. Students are expected to request work before shadowing. All work must be ready to be turned in upon return.
