St. Mary School Volleyball
Code of Conduct
For Coaches - As a volunteer coach for St. Mary School I am committed to:
Knowing the fundamentals and rules of volleyball
Developing all players to their potential
Being prepared for games and practices
Maintaining a positive role model for student athletes
Exhibiting good sportsmanship
Conducting myself in a Christian manner
Using positive and encouraging language
Teaching discipline and respect
Handling parental concerns appropriately
Allowing all athletes an opportunity to play during the regular season
Emphasizing the athletes’ growth and development instead of winning and losing
Providing the athletes with the tools necessary to accept defeat or disappointment
For Parents - As a parent of a St. Mary School athlete I am committed to:
Respecting the facilities of other schools
Maintaining a positive role model for my child and other student athletes
Helping with the various tasks needed to run the program (gym set up and tear down, scoring, working the scoreboard)
Providing transportation to and from practices and matches
Communicating concerns with the coach(es) at appropriate times, not immediately before, during, or after a practice or a match
Assuring my child will arrive at practices and matches on time unless the coach has been otherwise notified
Supporting the entire team during matches/games even if my own child is not playing
Conducting myself in a Christian manner
Exhibiting good sportsmanship during matches/games
Providing my child with the tools necessary to accept defeat or disappointment
Emphasizing my child’s growth and development instead of winning or losing
Speaking of the coach(es) in a positive way in front of my child
For Students - As an athlete of St. Mary School I am committed to:
Attending scheduled games and practices (I will notify the coach(es) if I am unable to attend)
Giving my best effort mentally and physically at all times in matches/games and practices
Helping the team achieve its goals
Displaying a positive attitude and promoting teamwork on and off the court
Exhibiting respect for my coaches, teammates, officials, and fans
Exhibiting good sportsmanship during and after matches/games
Cheering for my team on the bench when I am not playing
Following the directions of the coach(es)
Accepting constructive criticism
Conducting myself in a Christian manner
Representing St. Mary School in a positive way
Respecting St. Mary school property and athletic equipment
Respecting the facilities of other schools
Maintaining high academic standards
